Centre for Global Studies (CGS): A Global Centre for Trust and Reputation Excellency

The Centre for Global Studies (CGS), a program of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Mediterranean (PAM), stands at the forefront of evaluating and enhancing the trust and reputation benchmarks for both public and private sectors worldwide. As a leading research institution, CGS is dedicated to developing and accessing comprehensive criteria for measuring “Trust” and “Reputation.” CGS aspires to serve as  a reference point for countries, international organizations, and the private sector.

CGS provides in-depth and strategic analysis for complex global issues. CGS works and cooperates together with major international organizations, research institutions, academia and the private sector.

Through research and expert analysis, CGS develops and upholds parameters that assess trust and strengthen global reputation. its work involves creating strong frameworks for evaluating trustworthiness and promoting transparency and reliability across the international landscape. By developing a clearer understanding of reputation, CGS contributes to fostering a more trustworthy and reputable global environment.

  • Policy and Procedure Reference: CGS is committed to serving as a research centre for policymakers and institutions worldwide, delivering informed insights and recommendations that promote effective policies and procedures.
  • Trust and Reputation: CGS objective is to build and sustain reputation for trustworthiness and excellence, establishing CGS as a reference point for strategic analysis and solutions across the Euro-Mediterranean and Gulf regions, and beyond.


Focus Areas

  1. Complex Method of Analysis
    • Objective: Develop and implement a state-of-art analytical framework to understand the intricate interrelationships and feedback loops within regional dynamics.
    • Approach: Employ integrative observations of dialogue, cultural interactions, political and institutional developments, economic trends, and legal processes to deliver a comprehensive view of regional developments.
  2. Strategic Issues
    • Key Topics:
      • Redefining global governance at all levels.
      • Revisiting the challenges of multilateralism.
      • Strategic governance amidst the technological revolution.
      • Collaborative solutions for security, economic integration, climate change, mass migration, One Health, and other critical areas.
    • Initiatives:
      • Advocate for a Euro-Mediterranean and Gulf Economic Community focused on renewable energy and water.
      • Strengthen One Health initiatives to improve global health security.
      • Study the challenges posed by AI and new technologies
  3. Human Development
    • Focus: Analyze the roles of women and youth in shaping new regional scenarios. Address interconnected challenges such as health protection, migration complexities, and pandemics.
  4. European Involvement
    • Vision: Propose a European initiative for equitable partnerships with the South, emphasizing the need for a cohesive and strategic European presence in the region.


Key Activities

  • Annual Reports and Blueprints: Publish in-depth annual reports and develop strategic blueprints in collaboration with experts and institutions.
  • Public and Closed-Door Meetings: Organize both public events and confidential discussions, including Chatham House-style meetings with institutional, political, and business leaders.
  • Internship Programs: Offer internship opportunities for emerging professionals across the Euro-Mediterranean and Gulf regions, and beyond, featuring lectures from distinguished experts.
  • Information Systems: Maintain a dynamic online presence through an updated website, monthly newsletters, daily press reviews, and active social media channels.


Collaborations and Partnerships

  • International Relations: CGS has established fruitful partnerships with international bodies, including the United Nations system, Security Council CTED, INTERPOL, WTO, World Bank, IMF, and others. Research Collaborations: Partner with leading universities and think tanks such as LUISS University, Mercatorum University, Federico II University, DIHAD Humanitarian College, John Hopkins University, and others.


Research and Publications

  1. Technological Revolution and Security:
    • Current Projects: Investigate the malicious use of AI and emerging technologies, and their impacts on security and governance. Updates will be provided to stakeholders from September 2024.
  2. Democracy and Technology:
    • Ongoing Research: Examine the transformation of democracies in the technological era, focusing on misinformation, propaganda, and foreign interference.
  3. Misinformation and Vaccines:
    • Report: Upcoming publication on the influence of misinformation in vaccine discourse.
  4. CBRNe Risks:
    • Research Focus: Address risks related to chemical, biological, radiological, and nuclear activities in collaboration with the Council of Europe’s European Centre for Disaster Medicine.
  5. Bioethics and AI:
    • Engagement: Contribute to discussions on the intersection of AI, safety, and security with the San Marino Bioethics Committee.
  6. The Global Eye Newsletter:
    • Purpose: Deliver regular geopolitical, geoeconomic, and geostrategic analysis, reinforcing CGS’s position within the global think tank network.
