The Parliamentary Assembly of the Mediterranean and the Inter-parliamentary Union of the Italian parliament will sign the “Agrigento Declaration for peace and friendship among Mediterranean peoples”.
The two sides will undertake to undertake to institute, in collaboration with the Italian Parliament, for the 2012-2013 biennial period, a cycle of initiatives in Agrigento aimed at promoting Peace and Friendship among Peoples of the Mediterranean, by bringing together parliamentarians and representatives of the cultural and scientific communities, as well as representatives of every religious faith and belief, and prominent members of society, so that they can exchange their experiences and diverse cultures in the pursuit of solidarity and enhancing dialogue and democracy.
The Declaration will be signed by PAM President, H.E. Abdelwahed Radi (Morocco) and Sen. Benedetto Adragna on behalf of the Inter-parliamentary Union.
This afternoon the PAM parliamentarians and guests will be hosted in Agrigento for a special dedicated tour of the Valle dei Templi Park and will also be received by local authorities.
