Hon. Renaud Muselier, Member of the European Parliament and Deputy-President of the Regional Council of Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur, made a courtesy visit to the Headquarters of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Mediterranean (PAM), in Malta, on the occasion of the 2017 Malta Congress of the European People’s Party (29-30 March 2017).
Hon. Muselier was welcomed by Mr. Mario Bracco, Head of Administration and Protocol, and Ms Fatima Khachi, Officer in Charge of the 3rd PAM Standing Committee.
Following a brief presentation of PAM’s mission and activities, the two sides touched upon a series of major current issues including PAM’s role and initiatives with the Eastern European region including the Russian Federation and the Parliamentary Assembly of the Commonwealth of Independet States (CIS), which Hon. Muselier considers as extremely important to tackle major Mediterranean issues, among which the Syrian crisis, and the migration and refugees phenomenon.
While welcoming the PAM-UN cooperation, which he considers as giving legitimacy to the initiatives carried out by PAM, Hon. Muselier stressed the importance of and interest in strengthening cooperation between PAM and the Union for the Mediterranean (UfM).
