Hon. Abdirahin H. Abdi, Speaker of the East African Legislative Assembly (EALA) addressed the IV Plenary Session of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Mediterranean (PAM) on the invitation of the President Rudy Salles and Secretary General, Sergio Piazzi.

Hon Abdi stressed that the presence of his organization symbolizes the commitment to take PAM to greater heights through the desire to establish networks with similar parliamentary organizations. I was also able to realize that PAM is committed to addressing the problems and challenges facing your region and to seek new opportunities aimed at peace and tranquility, sustainable social and economic development as well as mitigating environmental effluence”. Hon. Abdi said.

It is for this reason, Hon. Abdi continued, that the East African legislative Assembly would like to fully associate itself with the Parliamentary Assembly of the Mediterranean for the promotion of these ideals”.

Hon Abdi said that the EALA is committing itself to future cooperation with PAM because together, all the man-made disasters and catastrophes, can be transformed in a dignified manner, to the benefit of all peoples of the world particularly those in the Mediterranean and the East African region. This cooperation should be seen as the building blocks from which other organizations and continental bodies can draw lessons from to simplify their work.

In his concluding remarks Hon Abadi reiterated that the East African Legislatrive Assembly supports the driving factors behind PAM.
