The IV Plenary Session of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Mediterranean has closed its proceedings with the adoption of the resolutions and reports prepared during the 2009 calendar of events by the Standing Committees, the Special Task Forces and the Ad Hoc Committee that met in a number of Mediterranean cities throughout the year. During the two day Assembly a number of international guest speakers, together with
representatives from other Regional Assemblies, addressed the participants on various issues of nterest. In his closing comments the President of PAM, Rudy Salles (France) reiterated the guiding principles of PAM in that each country is represented on an equal footing and the achievement of peace is the highest priority on the agenda of the Mediterranean parliamentarians. He added that 2009 was a year in which PAM continued to strengthen its role at both the regional and international level and in 2010 theorganisation should continue to follow this successful path. On Sunday the 1st Meeting of the Secretaries General of the PAM member states, was opened by the Secretary General of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey, H.E. Ali Osman Koca. During this meeting, activities and ambitions, as well as best practices and lessons learned so far, are featuring prominently during the roundtable.
