The Parliamentary Assembly of the Mediterranean (PAM) is convening the 12th Plenary Session in Bucharest, Romania, today 15th and tomorrow 16th February 2018. The PAM Plenary is hosted by the President of the Chamber of Deputies of the Romanian Parliament, H.E. Nicolae-Liviu Dragnea.
The official opening will be addressed by H.E. Hon. Liviu Dragnea followed by H.R. Sen. Calin Popescu Tariceanu, Speaker of the Senate of Romania. The PAM parliamentarians, International Organisations and distinguished guests will be also addressed by the Head of the Romanian Delegation to PAM.
PAM President, H.E. Hon Pedro Roque (Portugal) will also address the opening followed by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Romania, H.E. Mr. Teodor Melescanu. The ceremony will come to an end with the messages from the United Nations Secretary General, H.E. Antonio Guterres and H.H. Pope Francis.
With the view to enrich the debates and provide inputs for the forthcoming activities of the Assembly, decision-makers from the Romanian Government and the international organisations will deliver presentations on topical matters.
This year’s PAM Annual Session will bring again to parliamentarians’ attention the recurrent theme of Countering the Evolving Threat of Terrorism among many other emblematic topics for this Assembly such as Political and Security Developments in the MENA Region; Facilitating Trade and Supporting Investments; Climate Change, Human Rights and Migration; and Protection of Cultural Heritage.
