The Parliamentary Assembly of the Mediterranean (PAM) is convening the 13th Plenary Session in Belgrade, Serbia, today 21st and tomorrow 22nd February 2019. The PAM Plenary is hosted by H.E. Maja Gojkovic, Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia.
The official opening will be addressed by H.E. Hon. Veroljub Arsić, Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia followed by H.E. Ivica Dacic, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Serbia.
PAM President, H.E. Hon Pedro Roque (Portugal) will also address the opening session. The ceremony will come to an end with the message from the United Nations Secretary General, H.E. Antonio Guterres and the signing ceremony of the Memorandum of Understanding between PAM and the Interparliamentary Assembly on Orthodoxy (IAO).
During the Plenary Session, in the framework of the Standing Committees, PAM parliamentarians will review the reports and vote to adopt the draft resolutions on the priority issues for the Euro-Mediterranean area, among which, political and security developments in the MENA Region, the new threats represented terrorism, economic cooperation and trade facilitation, climate change, the Global Compact for Migration and the promotion of Human Rights. To enrich their debates and provide inputs for the forthcoming activities of the Assembly, policymakers from the host country, the international community, and the private sector will also address the meeting.
