On the occasion of the Annual Plenary Session, the Parliamentary Assembly of the Mediterranean (PAM), selects, among a number of nominations, a few personalities, organizations and citizens, who, in one way or another, contribute to a better future in the region, and are recognized for their commitment. A few, which however, symbolically represent a much wider spectrum of positive experiences and examples at the national and regional level.
The PAM AWARD is a simple thank you for the achievements in line with the principles and goals set by the Assembly, and which are common to all people of goodwill.
The PAM Award presentation ceremony was held this morning at the opening of the second day of the PAM 10th Plenary Session in Tirana. The awards were presented by PAM President, Sen. Lhou Lmarbouh.
In his introductory speech, PAM Secretary General, Ambassador Sergio Piazzi, said that day after day, the Mediterranean region is becoming a more and more complicated theatre of challenges, and the months ahead, not years, are crucial to determine, with political courage, the concrete actions necessary to re-establish that sense of dignity and understanding, among the multicultural realities of the region, from Gibraltar to the Middle East. “At the same time, we cannot but express relentlessly our full-unreserved condemnation of any form of violence and terrorism, which are ultimately directed to annihilate and destabilize the everyday lives of the innocent citizens of our countries”, Amb. Piazzi added.
