ABOUT
The trafficking and smuggling of migrants have become alarmingly frequent phenomena in the Mediterranean region, posing serious threats to human rights and regional stability. It is crucial that these heinous crimes be addressed with urgency and determination.
As part of its commitment to safeguarding human dignity and human rights, the Parliamentary Assembly of the Mediterranean (PAM) launched its first communication campaign focused on combatting Trafficking in Persons and the Smuggling of Migrants across the PAM regions.
3 core objectives:
1. Raise Awareness: Educate and inform PAM Member States about the gravity and scope of these issues, highlighting their devastating impacts on individuals and societies. Through this campaign, PAM seeks to empower Member States to work together in eradicating these crimes, which undermine the most fundamental human rights and endanger the future of the region.
2. Promote Collaboration: Foster dialogue and the exchange of best practices between parliamentarians, to help develop effective legislative responses and strengthen national frameworks.
3. Enhance Regional and International Cooperation: Encourage coordinated action through multilateral mechanisms to ensure a unified, cross-border approach to preventing trafficking and smuggling, while protecting victims.
