On the occasion of Yom HaShoah, the 27 January, PAM honors the memory of the six million Jews murdered in the Holocaust, along with the millions of other victims of Nazism. The Holocaust was and remains the most horrific manifestation of antisemitism in the modern history of mankind.

As we reflect on this dark spot in history, we must – time and again- draw the lessons learned to prevent such an aberration from resurfacing again.  Such heinous attempts at eradicating entire communities from the face of earth have not – unfortunately – come to an end. We still see dark forces pushing for antisemitism, racism and intolerance in all its forms and manifestations raging throughout our world.

PAM and its member states are committed at tackling the root causes of group-targeted hatred and promoting educational initiatives to combat racism and violence in all its forms. PAM welcomes the unanimous adoption of UNGA resolution on “Holocaust denial” A/76/PV.55 and confirms its unshakable commitment to combating antisemitism, racism, and intolerance in all its forms. PAM urges the international community for working on raising the world’s awareness of the Holocaust and its consequences to prevent the recurrence of such criminal persecutions and massacres.

The current COVID-19 pandemic has subjected our entire world to a hard test. Regrettably, we have failed this test, so far, as the division, inequality and unjust distribution of the vaccines has only deepened the crisis and exposed the challenges, prolonging the health crisis. The test exposed the long-standing ills of our societies, but it is time to right the wrong. We can still tackle those inequalities and fractures that fuel xenophobia, hate speeches, and especially antisemitism, which is the oldest and most pervasive form of racist and religious persecution.

Therefore, PAM underlines that intolerance or irrationality will spare no one. No country is immune of its repercussions as the world witnessed over the past few years and even days.//
