12 March 2024, Rome, Italy – Hon. Giulio Centemero, Head of the Italian Delegation to PAM and President of the PAM 2nd Standing Committee, delivered a keynote address at the High-Level Dialogue on “Transitioning Energy in the Mediterranean” organized by the World Energy Council (WEC) Italy in Rome.
The conference addressed energy transition and security in the Euro-Mediterranean region in light of the current geoeconomic and geopolitical challenges and their impacts on the global energy markets.
At the event, Italian government representatives, academic institutions, and energy industry stakeholders discussed the challenges and opportunities of transitioning to sustainable energy sources in the region.
In his keynote speech, the Hon. Centemero highlighted the role of PAM as a platform for parliamentary cooperation and its capacity to address energy transition strategies and its challenges.
Hon. Centemero also stressed the crucial role of enhanced regional cooperation through the tools of parliamentary diplomacy. In this context, he recalled PAM’s efforts in operationalizing the PAM Parliamentary Conference on Renewable and Sustainable Energy as a concrete tool to accelerate energy transition, regional resilience and sustainable development-
PAM looks forward to furthering discussions on this subject at the forthcoming PAM Marrakesh Euro-Mediterranean and Gulf Economic Forum in Morocco (11-12 July 2024), also in cooperation with WEC, as national and regional transition strategies will be at the core of the working sessions of the event. //
