The Ambassador of Greece to Malta, H.E. Mrs. Chryssoula Karykopoulou, paid a courtesy visit to the Parliamentary Assembly of the Mediterranean Headquarters, on 15 December 2015. PAM Secretary General, Amb. Sergio Piazzi, welcomed H.E. Karykopoulou.
Discussions centred on the role of PAM in the global effort in fighting terrorism, side by side with the United Nations Security Council and its specialised bodies.
Cooperation with Greece was thoroughly reviewed, and the possibility for a senior member of the Greek Government, familiar with migration issues, to address the PAM Plenary Session to be held in Tirana on 18 February 2016, was raised.
Of particular interest to the Ambassador were the activities of PAM in relation to cooperation with the Bretton Woods Institutions and the Deauville Partnership aimed at stabilising Southern Mediterranean countries through investments and support to the productive sector and job creation.
H.E. Karykopoulou expressed her appreciation for the work conducted by the PAM Electoral Observation Mission during the second round of national elections in Egypt, which included, among others, the presence of Libyan MPs in the PAM team.
