28 September 2022 –– PAM President, Hon. Gennaro Migliore, Italy, and PAM President Emeritus Hon. Abou El-Enein, Vice-President of the Egyptian Parliament, paid an official visit to the Republic of San Marino.
Following to an encounter with the researchers working at the PAM Study Center, the PAM delegation met with the Minister of Health, H.E. Roberto Ciavatta; the Minster of Territory, H.E. Stefano Canti; MP Hon. Adele Tonnini; the Director of the National Health Services, Dr. Francesco Bevere; and the Delegate of San Marino Innovation, Mr. Michele Cervellini.
President Hon. Gennaro Migliore, PAM President Emeritus Hon. Abou El-Enein were then received by H.E. Oscar Mina and H.E. Paolo Rondelli, the two Heads of State of the Republic of San Marino in a private audience. They discussed important topics related to regional developments, climate change, and PAM presence in for San Marino. PAM’s future participation in the COP 27 in Egypt was among the main topics of the discussion. On the margins of COP 27, PAM will hold in Sharm el-Sheik its political Bureau.
During the meeting, the participants also talked about the recent PAM participation in the 77th High-level segment of the UN General Assembly. They focused on the bilateral meetings the PAM delegation had with the Director of the UN Security Council Counter-Terrorism Committee, and the Under Secretary General for Peace Operations, and the President of Interpol, among others.
Participants also discussed PAM’s scheduled organization of the “Euro Mediterranean and Gulf Economic Forum” that will be hosted by the Parliament of Morocco on 7-8 December 2022. The aim of the event is to discuss economic recovery plans and energy diversification strategies and to call for the establishment of a sustainable energy community in the Euro-Mediterranean and Gulf regions, following to the Russian invasion of Ukraine.
In conclusion of their visit, PAM representatives thanked the Republic of San Marino for hosting the PAM Research Center. The Center has proven its validity and effectiveness. In less than a year, it already hosted 20 researchers from 9 different countries. At the Centre, they have the opportunity to get first-hand experience working in an international organization, being directly associated to the daily tasks of PAM three Standing Committees. Many of them, at completion of their permanence at PAM, already work with international organizations, which recognize the value of the Assembly. The research and analysis carried out in San Marino represent a critical contribution to the PAM work and that of the Standing Committees.//
