02 July 2024, Pietrasanta, Italy – The Parliamentary Assembly of the Mediterranean (PAM) granted its high patronage to the Danza in Arte a Pietrasanta (DAP) – Dance Festival 2024.
Hon. Deborah Bergamini, Member of the Italian Delegation to PAM, addressed a message to the event, highlighting the importance of arts and culture to promote peace and cooperation in the Euro-Mediterranean and Gulf regions, and beyond, also through the creation of new – and sometimes unedited – channels for dialogue and mutual exchange.
Every year, the DAP Festival brings together artists from all around the world, contributing, through dance, to spreading messages of peace, joy and hope. In this regard, since its creation, PAM has awarded many artists who have promoted the highest values of peaceful coexistence among the Mediterranean peoples.
Hon. Bergamini stressed that PAM is one of the most important and internationally recognized platforms for dialogue and cooperation in its regions and globally. Currently, PAM is one of the few organizations where Israeli and Palestinian delegates meet to facilitate the resumption of discussions towards the resolution of the devastating conflict in the Middle East, which has seen the death of thousands of civilian victims on both sides.
Furthermore, the Assembly is fully engaged in the preparations of the UN Summit of the Future, which will be held on 23-24 September 2024 in New York, and is providing its parliamentary contribution to the aim of rebuilding trust in the multilateral governance system and in the effectiveness of international institutions, mined by frequent attempts to undermine the UN Charter and the decisions of the International Court of Justice. //
