On 26 April, His Majesty King Abdullah II has appointed Senator Dr. Fayez Al-Tarawneh as the Prime Minister of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan.
Sen. Al-Tarawneh is the President of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Mediterranean. He was unanimously elected on the occasion of the 6th PAM Plenary Session, held in Palermo, Italy, in October 2011.
In his outstanding career, PAM President Al-Tarawneh has served, inter-alia, as Prime Minister of Jordan (1998-1999), Ambassador to the USA, Chief negotiator for the peace process, Head of the Royal Court and Vice-Chairman of the Council of Representatives.
Prime Minister Al-Tarawneh has dedicated his political career to social justice, freedom, democracy and respect for the rule of law. He is also in favour of political reform through the revision of some constitutional articles and the formulation of a modern elections law that meets and fulfills all community groups’ aspirations. From an economic point of view he focuses on the fight against unemployment, through the creation of job opportunities for the youth and debt reduction, as well as the encouragement of investment, and the development of the tourism sector.
The Bureau, the parliamentarians of the National Delegations of the PAM member states and the Secretariat take the opportunity to congratulate H.E. Al-Tarawneh on his appointment as Head of Government of Jordan.

Furthermore his commitment to the priority issues of the Mediterranean region will continue to receive his full support within our Parliamentary Assembly”, PAM Secretary General, Amb.
