On the occasion of the annual gathering, PAM expressed its appreciation to a few people who have left a mark in their particular fields of interest in favour of the development of the Mediterranean.
The presentation of the PAM Prize 2012 was held at the end of the Plenary Session held in Malta on 12-13 October, 2012. The commemorative plaques were presented by PAM President, Sen. Francesco Amoruso and the Speaker of the Maltese Parliament, Hon. Michael Frendo.
The other PAM Prize 2012 recipients were:
, former Speaker of the House of Representatives, Malta, who has been instrumental not only in the establishment of PAM but also in the efforts of the Maltese Authorities to host at Palazzo Spinola, the Headquarters and Secretariat of PAM. Dr. Tabone was also host to the second PAM Plenary Session which was held in Malta in 2007. Also in his capacity of Acting President of the Republic of Malta he always underlines the important role of PAM in the region.
, UNIDO Director-General. Under the stewardship of Dr. Yumkella, UNIDO has been instrumental in supporting PAM in the economic field.
Head of the Hellenic Delegation to the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly but above all a staunch supporter of the Mediterranean and of PAM, which he considers as the parliamentary diplomacy’s main actor in the region. To this end he has demonstrated a strong and visible commitment and a very active promotion of the Mediterranean ideals.
President of the Forum of Adriatic and Ionian Chambers of Commerce and Dr. Rodolfo Giampieri, President of the Chamber of Commerce of Ancona, Italy. Through its initiatives, the Forum symbolizes the way forward for the role of the stakeholders at the local level, especially through a platform of partnerships and collaboration in the economic sector.
, President House of Europe, Rhodes, Greece. The House of Europe in Rhodes, is another example of how integration and dialogue con prosper in the Euro-Mediterranean Region. The long list of activities and events organized so far on culture, immigration and the common heritage deserves PAM’s support and the Assembly recognizes such commitment and dedication.
, International President and Founder of the FAM Network (Le des Femmes Artistes de La Méditerranée), Rhodes, Greece. Mrs Moschis-Gauget epitomizes an important aspect of PAM’s goals, Cultural Diplomacy, through which she spearheads an important project for the promotion of the culture of peace, cooperation and solidarity between the peoples of the Mediterranean, also through the Arts.
