The Parliamentary Assembly of the Mediterranean (PAM) participated at the United Nations Seminar on Assistance to the Palestinian people, as part of the “Agenda 2030: paving the way toward a peaceful, independent and sustainable State of Palestine”, held in Stockholm, on 19 and 20 May 2016.
The topics discussed during the Seminar focused on: Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs): Challenges and constraints of implementation under occupation; Enabling sustainable solutions for a dignified future and Strengthening global partnerships for reconstruction and sustainable development.
PAM was represented by the PAM Vice-President of the 3rd Standing Committee, Hon. Belal Qasem (Palestine), who reaffirmed the Assembly’s commitment to achieving peace based on the consecration of the Palestinian people’s rights and their right to establish an independent state in the framework of a two-state solution.
“In this context, we must all agree that enabling the Palestinian people in all respects will be an important factor in achieving a just and comprehensive peace in the region”, Hon. Qasem said.
PAM will follow up its initiatives within the Israeli-Palestinian Peace Process with a high level mission in Israel and Palestine in the last quarter of 2016.
