Members of the Italian Parliamentary correspondents corps have paid a visit to the Headquarters of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Mediterranean in Malta on 20 January 2010.
A group of 20 journalists from the main broadcast, print and online media were welcomed by the Secretary General, Dr. Sergio Piazzi and the Public Affairs & Communications Officer, Cav. Martin Micallef.
The Italian Media representatives were given a general overview of PAM. They were briefed on the recent activities and achievements of the organisation and future events, within the framework of PAM’s engagement to strengthen parliamentary diplomacy in the Mediterranean region and consolidate cooperation with other actors in the region and beyond. The role of the media in the process of communication to reach and inform the citizens on the activities of their national parliaments and the PAM, was also touched upon during the meeting.
The group, accompanied by the First Secretary of the Italian Embassy in Malta, Dr Gaia La Cognata, was then hosted for a buffet lunch in the gardens of Spinola Palace, seat of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Mediterranean.
