PAM shares UNSG concern on Jerusalem

PAM shares the deep concern expressed by the Secretary General of the United Nations on the deteriorating situation in Jerusalem and in the Gaza strip, particularly the recent incidents in and around the holy sites.

PAM echoes the appeal by Secretary General Guterres that the status quo at the holy sites in Jerusalem must be upheld and respected, and that all leaders should do whatever possible to lower tensions, avoid confrontation and restore calm. Use of force must be avoided from all sides in order to promote and guarantee peace and security for all.

PAM reiterates its position that a Two-State solution is the way ahead for both, Israelis and Palestinians, to resolve the conflict on the basis of relevant United Nations resolutions, international law and bilateral agreements.

PAM will continue to promote dialogue and peaceful settlement of the dispute through its parliamentary diplomacy network, in cooperation with the international community, supporting all initiatives designed at fostering the respect for the rule of law and a prompt political solution to the present situation.//
