On 27 January 2025, the Parliamentary Assembly of the Mediterranean (PAM) solemnly commemorates the International Holocaust Remembrance Day, which also marks 80th year since the liberation of the concentration and extermination Camp of Auschwitz.
During the Holocaust, six million Jews and millions of others were murdered, 1.1 million in Auschwitz alone. The memory of these victims must continue to serve as a moral compass in our present and future.
The Holocaust represents moral collapse, dehumanization, complicity, and unimaginable atrocities. As we reflect on this dark spot of human history, we must draw the lessons learned to prevent such an aberration from recurring in the entire planet.
In these days, in which we witness an alarming rise in antisemitism and hate speeches, especially towards the most vulnerable groups, PAM, together with the international community, renews its commitment to honor the victims of the Holocaust, fostering respect for shared humanity, and upholding the principles of justice, peace and mutual understanding. //
