RUSSIAN AMBASSADOR TO MALTA MEETS PAM SECRETARY GENERAL

The new Ambassador of the Russian Federation to the Republic of Malta, H.E. Vladimir Malygin, on 20 March 2015, paid a courtesy visit to Amb. Sergio Piazzi, the Secretary General of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Mediterranean, with whom talks were held.

At PAM Headquarters, priority issues for both sides were discussed, including the Libyan, Syrian and Ukrainian crisis, and also the sanctions against Russia.

PAM Secretary General also informed Amb. Malygin, on the ongoing commitment and the forthcoming initiatives of the Assembly, together with other international institutions, namely the UN System, to strengthen the fight against extremist radical terrorism and the phenomenon of the Foreign Terrorist fighters.

The Russian Federation Ambassador welcomed the role that PAM is playing in the region through its parliamentary diplomacy network, and expressed his support to the Assemblys initiatives for the promotion of peace, stability and security in the Euro-Mediterranean region.
