Statement by the
Parliamentary Assembly of the Mediterranean on
car bomb attack in the northeastern city of Hermel, Lebanon

The Parliamentary Assembly of the Mediterranean (PAM) condemns without reservations the car bomb attack in the city of Hermel in Lebanon, which caused the death of at least four people and wounded more than twenty others.

PAM is particularly concerned at the escalation of violence and terrorist acts in Lebanon, and calls on the population to support the country’s institutions in their efforts to maintain security and guarantee stability in Lebanon.

PAM expresses its condolences to the families of the victims and the wounded, and reiterates its commitment in assisting Lebanon to counter any possible spill-over of the Syrian conflict in its territory.

The Parliamentary Assembly of the Mediterranean will continue to monitor the Middle East region and will take all the necessary parliamentary diplomacy actions to contribute in the attainment of long term political solutions in Syria for the benefit of the Syrian civil population and stability in all the other states and populations in the area.
