The Parliamentary Assembly of the Mediterranean, on behalf of its member parliaments, shares its deepest sorrow and dismay after the terrorist assault on the on the Bardo National Museum, in the immediate proximity of the national Parliament, in Tunis, on 18 March 2015. PAM also expresses its condolences to the families of the victims and the wounded in this heinous attack against two pillars of civilisation represented by Parliament, as a symbol of democratic processes, and the Bardo Museum, a precious collection of mankind’s historical memory.
PAM reiterates its full support to the President of the Tunisian Parliament, the Government and citizens, in their efforts to establish a fairer society based on the new Constitution, and will continue to promote and strengthen, in collaboration with the UN System, the European Institutions, and all other international organisations, the fight against all forms of terrorism aimed at undermining peace, stability and security in the Mediterranean.
