Parliamentary Assembly of the Mediterranean on the
occasion of the approval of the new Constitution in Tunisia

The Parliamentary Assembly of the Mediterranean (PAM) is pleased to highlight the important achievement by the National Constituent Assembly of Tunisia, following the adoption of the new Constitution.

PAM member states express their congratulations to all political leaders and the people of Tunisia for this historical step in the process towards the introduction of solid democratic values in the country.

Now that shared rules have been established, Tunisia and its citizens are set to undertake all those reforms required to consolidate political, economic and social development and stability.

The Mediterranean community stands to benefit from the successes of each country, and PAM encourages its members to support Tunisia and the other Arab Spring countries experiencing the transition process.

The Parliamentary Assembly of the Mediterranean reiterates its full commitment to provide all the assistance required by Tunisia to promote the rule of law and the respect of human rights as fundamental principles underlying democratic achievements.
