Statement by the
Parliamentary Assembly of the Mediterranean on
the resumption of negotiations in Cyprus
The Parliamentary Assembly of the Mediterranean (PAM) welcomes the announcement that negotiations will resume between the Cypriot Government and the Turkish-Cypriot Community on the Island of Cyprus.
PAM congratulates the two leaders, the President of the Republic of Cyprus, Nicos Anastasiades, and Turkish Cypriot leader, Dervis Eroglu respectively, for their determination to re-activate talks in a constructive manner aimed at resolving issues which, for decades, have divided the Island-state of the Eastern Mediterranean.
The Parliamentary Assembly of the Mediterranean will support the two parties in their efforts to establish an agreed framework to move ahead from the current deadlock, and provide their citizens with concrete perspectives for a shared future in peace and prosperity.
