Statement
by the
Parliamentary Assembly of the Mediterranean
on the terrorist attack in Nice
The Parliamentary Assembly of the Mediterranean (PAM) deplores and condemns in the strongest terms the vile and heinous terrorist attack on the hundreds of revelers celebrating Bastille Day along the Promenade des Anglais, in Nice, on the evening of 14 July 2016, leaving on the ground tens of victims and wounded, among which a considerable number of children.
It is not acceptable that this strategy of international destabilization by fanatic and criminal elements of the so-called ISIS, particularly against innocent civilians, continues to mete death and despair.
The Parliamentary Assembly of the Mediterranean reiterates the need for immediate and increased collective efforts by the international community to act swiftly and take the necessary measures in the global fight against the threat of terrorism, which is undermining peace and security worldwide.
PAM will continue to work through its parliamentary diplomacy network to support the Charter of the United Nations and other obligations under international law, including international human rights law, international refugee law and international humanitarian law for the benefit and peace of mind of the Mediterranean citizens.
PAM expresses its condolences to the French Authorities and Peoples and its deepest sympathy to the victims and their relatives and wishes a full recovery to the wounded.
