10 February 2025, San Marino – The Parliamentary Assembly of the Mediterranean (PAM) welcomes the formation of a new government in Lebanon under the leadership of Prime Minister Nawaf Salam.
PAM acknowledges the significance of this development and aligns with the position of the United Nations Secretary-General in emphasizing the importance of consolidating the cessation of hostilities and the full implementation of Security Council Resolution 1701 (2006).
PAM remains committed to supporting all efforts aimed at addressing the urgent needs of the Lebanese people, particularly in recovery, reconstruction, and the advancement of a sustainable reform agenda.
Furthermore, PAM joins the United Nations in reaffirming its steadfast support for Lebanon’s territorial integrity, sovereignty, and political independence, in line with the principles enshrined in the Taif Accords and the Baabda Declaration.
In this context, the effective implementation of Security Council Resolutions 1701 (2006), 1559 (2004), and other relevant resolutions remains crucial to safeguarding Lebanon’s stability and security within the broader regional landscape.
