The PAM delegation is made up of Sen. Francesco Maria Amoruso of Italy, PAM Vice President, Secretary of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the Italian Senate, Head of delegation, Hon. Majalli Whbee of Israel, PAM Vice President, and Vice President of the Knesset, Hon. Fabrice Notari of Monaco, Vice President of PAM 1st Standing Committee on Political cooperation and Vice President of the National Council of Monaco, Amb. Sergio Piazzi, Secretary General of PAM.
The mission will include interventions on critical topics of interest to the Mediterranean and a series of bilateral meetings with High Officials of the United Nations, among which, the UN Under Secretary General for Humanitarian Affairs, H.E. Ms Valerie Amos, the UN Deputy Secretary General, H.E. Mr Jan Eliasson, the Under Secretary General for Political Affairs, H.E. Mr. Jeffrey Feltman, the UN Special Coordinator for the Middle East Process (UNSCO), Mr. Robert H. Serry, the UN-League of Arab States Joint Special Envoy for Syria, H.E. Mr. Lakhdar Brahimi and the UN Secretary General’s High Representative for the Alliance of Civilisations, H.E. Mr. Jorge Sampaio.
Earlier this year, the President of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Mediterranean (PAM), H.E. Senator Fayez Al-Tarawneh (Jordan), who had to cancel his trip to New York due to unforeseen commitments, and Secretary General, Amb. Sergio Piazzi, had met the United Nations Secretary General, H.E. Ban Ki-moon in Amman, on the occasion of the 19th Bureau Meeting of the Assembly.
On his part, Ban Ki-moon had praised PAM’s outreach and offered his full personal support to its initiatives, “aimed at creating the necessary dialogue and promote the implementation of tangible measures that can further lead to the establishment of peaceful coexistence between populations”.
