The Parliamentary Assembly of the Mediterranean (PAM) shares the concerns of the UN Secretary General, and the international community, over the latest security developments in Gaza, the ongoing escalation of violence and the risks of further loss of life.

PAM is deeply alarmed and saddened by the loss of civilian lives, including children and women, and joins the call of the international community to the parties, in order for them to respect their obligations under International Humanitarian Law. Civilian lives must be protected under all circumstances.

PAM also calls on the international community, urging all parties concerned to exercise maximum restraint and to work to stop hostilities immediately, in line with the relevant UN Resolutions, international law, bilateral agreements, and the commitments in the Aqaba and Sharm el Sheikh declarations.//
